Hot towel routine changed after a regular asked for the cold version
For 12 years I did the classic hot towel wrap on every neck shave. Last month a guy in Austin asked for it cold, said the heat made his skin flare up. Now I always ask first, and I keep a stack in the fridge, cuts down on irritation complaints by a lot. Anyone else offer a cold option?

Man, that's smart. I started doing the same thing about two years ago after a guy with rosacea said the hot towel made his neck look like a tomato. Now I ask every single client before I even touch the towel rack, and I'd say maybe one in five asks for cold. I keep a small fridge under my station, just for that stack. Big difference too, not just for skin issues, but guys who are super active or run hot in general. It takes some getting used to, but honestly it's made my regulars a lot happier, and I've picked up a few new ones just because word got around.
