I had to prove I wasn't dead to my own bank

My credit union in Boise froze my account for 'inactivity' after 11 months of no big transactions (I was using a different card for points). They said I needed to come in person to verify my identity, but I moved to Chicago. It took 3 weeks, two notarized letters, and a video call with a branch manager to get my own money back. Has anyone else had a bank think they died just from not logging in for a while?

Banks have to follow strict fraud rules, honestly.

Call your bank directly and ask for the fraud department. The phone reps often have more power to fix things than the online system. I've gotten charges reversed that way when the automatic flags failed.

That's just lazy fraud detection on their part.
