Wait so what exactly made it click for you? Because your uncle is kind of onto something and I feel like most people never think about it. The less money sitting in checking, the less you can lose if someone gets your card number or your bank freezes your account over some dumb fraud flag. My cousin had her account locked for like two weeks once and she couldn't touch a dime of the rent money sitting in there. I keep a small buffer for bills and push everything else to savings so its at least one step harder to blow or lose.
