Showerthought: My cake pan hack actually saved a birthday party

Honestly, I was making a three layer chocolate cake for my nephew's party in Tacoma and realized I only had two 9-inch pans. Ngl, I was panicking. I greased a large stainless steel mixing bowl and poured the third layer's batter into it, baking it right alongside the regular pans. Tbh, it came out perfectly domed and actually looked cool stacked. Has anyone else had to improvise with bakeware in a pinch? What did you use?

Is a panicked birthday party really that big of a deal though?

Oh man, that's a genius save. I saw a video once where someone used a clean, empty tin can to bake a tiny cake for a dollhouse, of all things. Your bowl idea is way more practical though, and a domed layer sounds awesome.

Yeah, the tin can trick is wild but bowls work every time.
