Spent $80 on a fancy silicone baking mat and it melted into my countertop

I bought this expensive mat thinking it'd be non-stick forever, but I left it too close to the oven vent and now there's a permanent squiggly line burned into my laminate. Has anyone else had a mat ruin their surface instead of saving it?

Permanent squiggly line burned into my laminate" - yikes. That mat should've had better heat warnings in the box. I'd be calling the company for a refund.

Huh, I'm not sure I agree. Most people know those mats get hot, that's kinda the whole point of them. The box probably says "hot surface" somewhere in tiny print, just like every other heating pad or space heater. Sucks that it happened, but calling for a refund seems like a stretch when you're putting a hot soldering iron on it. That's like burning your counter with a hot pan and blaming the pan for not warning you.
