Cream cheese frosting vs. swiss meringue for carrot cake, I picked the wrong one for years

I finally did a side by side last Saturday, cream cheese frosting is way softer and slides off if your cake isn't cold, but swiss meringue holds up better at room temp. Has anyone else struggled with frosting sliding off a carrot cake at a potluck?

...and honestly cream cheese frosting is better for when you keep the cake in the fridge, but swiss meringue is the way to go for any potluck where you don't control the temp lol. I started toasting my coconut and pecans first too, that really helps the frosting grip a bit better.

Read somewhere that toasted nuts really do make the difference.
