The 'settled science' phase I went through after one geology YouTube video

I spent 6 months in 2019 insisting to anyone who'd listen that the Grand Canyon was carved in a single flood, then a park ranger in Arizona showed me a cutaway of the rock layers and my whole 'theory' crumbled, so has anyone else had a hobby fact turn into a public embarrassment like that?
