That time I swore windshield wipers didn't matter until a 2015 monsoon in Phoenix
Back in 2014 I used to buy the $8 wiper blades from the dollar store and thought they worked fine. Then I got caught in a surprise July monsoon on the I-10 near Phoenix and literally couldn't see 10 feet ahead for 20 minutes. Does anyone else have a specific weather moment that finally made you stop being cheap about something simple?

You ever tried driving through Phoenix monsoon with wipers that basically just smear the water around? That's a special kind of terror. I switched to the mid range ones after the same thing happened to me and now I just replace them every fall too, no questions asked.

Dollar store wiper blades remind me of the way people buy the cheapest trash bags and then get mad when they rip. It's funny how we'll spend good money on things we actually want, but treat the stuff that keeps us safe or saves us hassle like an afterthought. After my own near miss in a sudden downpour, I started buying mid-range blades and changing them every fall before the rainy season hits here. Sometimes the simplest preventative measures make the biggest difference.

Dollar store wiper blades actually work fine if you clean your windshield regularly...
