I used to think meal prepping on Sundays was a waste of a perfectly good day off
For years I rolled my eyes at friends who spent their weekends chopping vegetables and portioning out chicken. I figured I could just cook fresh every night and save the hassle. Then last fall I started a new job that kept me at my desk until 7:00 PM, and after 3 weeks of fast food drive-thrus I was spending $180 a month on mediocre dinners. Now I spend 90 minutes on Sunday and I have actual lunches for the whole work week. Has anyone else had a similar turn around on something they were stubborn about?

Wait, are you sure about that 90 minutes? I used to think I was fast at meal prep but it always took me closer to two hours. Once I actually timed myself it was 115 minutes. Still worth it though.

Wait is this really that big of a deal? I mean yeah fast food costs more but $180 a month for dinners doesn't sound like the end of the world to me. I used to grab a burrito bowl after work twice a week and it was like $12 each time (which is nothing compared to what people spend on drinks or whatever). I get that meal prep saves time and money but you're acting like you discovered fire or something. People have been packing lunches since lunchboxes were invented, you know? And honestly 90 minutes on a Sunday when you could be doing literally anything else (napping, reading, sitting on the couch staring at the wall) feels like a trade-off I'm not sure is worth it. I'd rather just eat a sad desk salad from the grocery store deli and call it a day.
