Rant: My friend called 'The Room' the worst movie ever and I had to speak up
We were at his place in Austin last weekend and he put it on as a joke. He kept laughing at the bad lines and weird acting, saying it was a total waste of time. But I think that's the whole point, it's so bad it becomes this weirdly fun group experience where everyone is yelling at the screen. Has anyone else had a movie night where a terrible film ended up being the best part?

Wait, he was actually laughing at it? I mean, that's the whole fun of it, you're supposed to laugh with everyone. Calling it a waste of time totally misses the point. It's like a party where the movie is just the thing that gets everyone yelling together. I've had nights watching stuff like that where the bad movie is the only reason people stay and hang out. If you take it seriously of course it's the worst, but that's not how you watch it.

Hold on, he wasn't laughing? That's wild to me. The whole point is to make fun of it together, that's the entire activity. If someone's sitting there stone-faced judging the plot, they're just at the wrong event. It turns into background noise for hanging out, and that's what makes it fun.
