Okay but the 1998 Godzilla movie is actually kind of a vibe
I was rewatching it with my roommate in Chicago last month, and she kept laughing at the bad CGI. But I mean, that scene where Godzilla outruns the taxis in the rain? The sheer chaos of it is fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and the monster design is just a big iguana, which is weirdly charming. The whole thing feels like a dumb, expensive B-movie from the 90s, and sometimes that's exactly what you need. Has anyone else found a weird soft spot for a movie that's objectively not good?

Totally get what @wrenh65 means about the bad CGI being part of the fun. That 90s charm is hard to beat. My pick for a movie like that is "Anaconda", the snake looks so fake it's perfect.

You nailed it with the "dumb, expensive B-movie" feeling, that's the whole charm. I will die on the hill that the 1998 movie is a fun time if you turn your brain off. @wrenh65 asking for other go-to bad movies is tough, because so many try too hard. My pick is "The Core" from 2003. It's about drilling to the center of the earth to restart the planet's spin with nukes. The science is so stupid it wraps back around to being brilliant.
