My defense of Batman & Robin: I watched it with my nephew and he called it 'the best movie ever'
Last weekend my 8 year old nephew begged me to watch Batman & Robin on HBO Max. I tried to warn him it was terrible but he insisted. By the time the ice skating puns started I was cringing but he was laughing his head off. He literally stood up and clapped when Arnold said 'chill out' after freezing Robin. I realized this movie isnt meant for adults who want dark and gritty Batman. It's basically a live action Saturday morning cartoon from the 90s and kids absolutely love it. Has anyone else shown a 'bad' movie to a kid and seen them enjoy it unironically?

Totally changed my view on this honestly. I used to roll my eyes every time someone defended Batman & Robin but watching it with a kid really shifts the whole EXPERIENCE. For them it's bright and funny and silly in the best way, not a letdown from what they expect. Makes me wonder how many other movies I've been too snobby about just because I forgot what it's like to watch something for pure FUN. I bet your nephew had a blast with The Room too, kids just don't care about 'quality' in the same way adults do.
