My Aunt gave me a mini stapler that only works on paper boats from the 90s
So my Aunt Linda from Boise handed me this tiny stapler for Christmas last year, wrapped in like 4 layers of tissue paper. I opened it up and it's one of those mini ones that jams if you look at it wrong, and she swore it was "vintage office decor" from her attic. I tried using it twice, both times it bent all 3 staples into a crumpled mess, and now it sits in my junk drawer next to dead batteries. Has anyone else gotten a gift that literally can't do its one job?

I swear half the stuff people give you is just their way of getting rid of junk from their own house lol.

People do tend to pass along things they no longer need, but it's not always junk they're trying to get rid of. Sometimes it's stuff they genuinely think you might enjoy or find useful, like an old cookbook or a piece of furniture they know you've been looking for. A little appreciation can go a long way, even if the gift isn't exactly what you'd pick out yourself.
