Split the bill is fine for casual group meals. But $89 for one pasta dish sounds like you got taken advantage of, honestly. Just pay for what you ordered next time, no need to split evenly.

Oh man, that reminds me of a friend who got stuck splitting a $400 tab at a fancy place when she only had a salad and water - she was so mad she still brings it up years later. @sam17 you're totally right, better to just speak up early and pay your share.
