Tried the Zion Narrows bottom-up versus top-down and the choice was obvious
We planned a two day trip through the Narrows last spring, starting at the top at Chamberlain's Ranch. The first day was a brutal 16 mile slog with heavy packs through constant knee deep water... we were wrecked. Next time we just did the classic bottom-up day hike from the Temple of Sinawava and got all the best scenery without the misery. Anyone have a favorite canyon route that's way better one way?

Used to be a top-down purist but that bottom-up day hike totally changed my mind.

Totally get what you mean about that bottom-up day hike changing things. I was the same way, always planning the big summit push first. But starting low lets you see the whole mountain take shape around you, which is way more rewarding. It feels less like checking a box and more like actually getting to know the place. That slow reveal of the peak is something you just don't get from driving to the top.

Wow, @the_riley, that's exactly how it felt for me too, a total game-changer.
