Spent $90 on a fancy ham for Thanksgiving and nobody touched it

I thought buying a spiral honey glazed ham would be a hit but my aunt brought her famous turkey and everyone piled onto that instead. The ham sat there getting cold while my dad made jokes about it being a decoration. Has anyone else brought a dish that got totally ignored at a family dinner?

fr that's brutal though. the spiral ham is like the king of holiday meats when done right. next time just put it out first before the turkey even hits the table. like set it up as the centerpiece with the glaze all shiny and let people grab some while they're waiting for the main event. once that turkey arrives it's game over for any ham, no matter how fancy. i've seen it happen with a prime rib too, someone spent like $80 on it and it got completely overshadowed by some basic baked ziti.

Man that's rough, @faithwalker but you're not wrong about the timing thing. I swear some people just show up to eat whatever's warm and in front of them first, doesn't matter if it's a filet mignon or a hot dog. $80 prime rib getting beat by baked ziti is the most insulting thing I've heard all week. Honestly though, the ham doesn't stand a chance against turkey if they hit the table at the same time, it's like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Better luck next year with the early rollout strategy, that's solid advice.
