My aunt said my potato salad looked like 'something a dog threw up' at the 4th of July picnic.

She wasn't wrong, honestly. I started using a food processor to chop everything, and now it's just a uniform beige paste. Anyone have a good method for keeping things chunky?

Oh man, that's rough (but also kind of funny, sorry). Have you tried just mashing the potatoes with a fork instead? You can get them pretty smooth that way but still leave some good chunks. I boil red potatoes whole with the skin on until they're just soft, let them cool, and then the skins peel right off. After that, I just cut them into rough pieces with a regular old knife. It takes a few more minutes, but you get that perfect mix of creamy and chunky.

What kind of food processor are you using that turns potatoes into paste? Mine has a pulse button, you just gotta tap it a couple times. Did you cook the potatoes too soft before you put them in?
