I finally changed my mind about hosting Christmas dinner at my place

Last year I swore I'd never host again after my cousin spilled red wine all over my white carpet and nobody even apologized. But then my sister pointed out that the mess was just stuff, and the real issue was me being too worried about perfection to actually enjoy the night. Have you ever had a holiday disaster that made you rethink your whole approach to hosting?

Yeah, I'd rather scrub glitter out of the carpet than host again...

Man, @ben206, I feel you so hard on this one lol. I hosted a holiday party a few years back and spent the next two days finding random solo cups under the couch and a weird sticky spot on the floor I still can't explain. The cleanup alone made me swear off hosting anything bigger than a pizza night for like a whole year. Every time someone says "let's do it at your place next time," I just give them a look and change the subject. Glitter on the carpet is a solid visual though, that stuff never fully goes away lol.
