TIL the hard way that old harness repair trick from a guy in Wichita was garbage

Last year at a regional airport in Wichita, this old tech told me to use dielectric grease on all the cannon plug contacts during repair. I tried it on a 737-300 aft equipment bay harness, and six weeks later the pins started corroding anyway. Took me two full weekends to redo that whole harness because the grease trapped moisture instead of keeping it out. Anyone else get burned by bad advice from a 'seasoned' tech?

Seasoned" techs know dielectric grease is for the shell not the pins.

Dielectric grease on pins is fine if you let it offgas first.
