Vent: A simple brake job turned into a 3-hour fight with a seized caliper pin
It was a 2008 Civic, and the lower pin was so stuck I had to use a torch and a 3-pound sledge. Has anyone found a better way to free those things without destroying the bracket?

Man, that lower pin is a total nightmare every single time.

Been there with that exact car... honestly, a good penetrating oil and letting it soak overnight is the only thing that helps sometimes. Even then, you might still need the torch and a punch. Those pins are just in a bad spot that catches all the road salt and grime. A new bracket is cheap insurance if the boot is torn anyway.

Yeah xena_brown50 is right about the road salt spot, it's the worst. I ended up just replacing the whole bracket after fighting with it for an hour.
