Got handed a 30 year old torque wrench at the shop last Tuesday
My boss gave me his Snap-on clicker from 1992 to chase a head bolt pattern on a 6.0 Powerstroke. It was still dead nuts accurate after I tested it on the calibration fixture. Has anyone else had old tools outlast everything new from the box stores?

Nah, old Snap-on stuff just hits different. That calibration was earned.

Man, that reminds me of my dad's old Craftsman ratchet from the 70s. He used that thing for like 40 years and it never skipped a beat. I finally inherited it when he passed and I swear it feels better in the hand than any of the new ones they sell now. The chrome is all pitted and the knurling is worn smooth in spots, but it just works. My brother in law bought one of those 200 piece sets from Husky a few years back and he's already broken two sockets and the ratchet feels like garbage. There's something about that old steel and the way they machined things back then. You just don't get that kind of overbuilt quality anymore.
