Can we talk about how nobody checks hub runout before blaming the brake pedal pulsation?
Had a 2016 Silverado come in Tuesday with a pulsation complaint. Guy already ate two sets of rotors at another place. I put a dial indicator on the hubs and got 0.0045 inch of runout on the driver side, well past spec. New rotors on a bent hub are just a countdown timer. I told him straight, rotors won't fix this, you need hubs or at least get them machined true on the car. He pushed back hard, said he'd never heard of that in 30 years of driving. I get it, it's easier to sell pads and rotors than to explain lateral runout to somebody in a waiting room. But doing the same job three times is not a repair, it's a subscription. How many of you actually pull out the indicator on every brake job, or do you just roll the dice when the hub looks clean?
