Unpopular opinion: Sometimes the basic tools just work better
In my experience, back when I started, we fixed a lot with just a few hand tools. Last month, I had a door ding that the suction cups wouldn't budge. I used a simple pry bar and some finesse, and it popped right out clean. That little win made me appreciate the skills I learned years ago. Your mileage may vary, but it felt good to rely on the basics again.

Try a plastic trim removal tool next time instead of metal. Heat the area with a hairdryer first to make the metal more flexible. The right angle and a gentle push from behind often gets it without messing up the paint.

That's a solid point from @parkerthompson about using heat. Heating the metal makes it way easier to shape without causing cracks. Combining that with a plastic tool avoids scratches, which is key for keeping the paint intact. It's like upgrading a simple method with a bit of know-how instead of buying fancy gear. Sometimes a hairdryer and a pry bar can do what a whole kit promises but fails at. Feels good to solve problems with stuff you already have around the house.

Absolutely, that feeling of fixing something yourself with what's on hand is hard to beat. It saves a trip to the store and the cost of a special tool you might only use once. Makes you look at the things in your junk drawer in a whole new way. There's a real satisfaction in that kind of simple, clever fix.
