Rant: A $95 blend job on a silver Camry taught me why insurance estimators never touch a spray gun
I told the adjuster silver needs a full panel blend or the metallic will stripe under shop lights, he overrode me to save $95, and the customer came back 3 days later furious about the two-tone door. Now I write "blend or I won't warranty the paint" on every sheet, and somehow the approvals stopped getting cut.
Silver metallic is the worst for tinting the door alone, it lays different off the gun than it does on a full panel. I've had good luck getting adjusters to fold by handing the customer a written note that says the shop won't stand behind a striped repair, since the pushback usually comes from them not wanting to eat the comeback. Also snap a pic of the door under a bright light before you spray so you have proof for the supplement.
