inHad a domino joiner explode on me mid-cut yesterday
You're really sure it wasn't something you did wrong? Maybe you hit a knot or a hidden nail and just didn't notice.

inBlew my mind when a park ranger at Yosemite said most 'alien sightings' are just drones now
Yeah, hearing stuff like that really DOES make you stop and think. It's kind of a bummer sometimes realizing how easy it is to get tricked by something that seems so mysterious. But I'm glad your buddy showed you, better to know the truth than keep believing in something fake.

inCan we talk about hitting 100 paint samples before settling on a color?
@faithwalker nailed it about north-facing walls turning everything gray. I learned the hard way with a greige that looked perfect in the store but turned straight up baby poop brown in my hallway. The peel and stick samples are fine for checking color against your furniture but they lie about the finish. Sample pots might cost more but you can paint a big enough patch to see how it changes from morning to afternoon light. Have you tried painting on a piece of foam board instead of the wall so you can move it around the room?

inWasted 40 bucks on a 'car bass test' playlist that was all static and distortion
You say "Static means your system is clipping not testing" but in my experience that depends a lot on the song. I've got tracks that sound like static even on expensive subs because they're recorded with intentional distortion. Different setups react different ways. Not every system hits the same on "Bass I Love You" either, that track can sound thin on certain ported boxes. Plus rolling windows down changes the acoustics completely, sometimes you want the cabin sealed to feel those low tones pressurize the car. Your mileage may vary of course, but I've heard clean bass from songs that would sound like crap to someone else.

inWatched a guy at a job site in Sioux Falls try to straighten a 2x4 with just clamps and a prayer
With just clamps and a prayer" yeah that's basically how I started framing houses. Honestly a good speed square in my back pocket saves more time than anything. I've seen guys waste ten minutes measuring twice when a speed square tells you the angle in two seconds.
