Stood at the counter for 10 minutes before I realized nobody takes cash anymore
Went to grab lunch at that diner on 3rd Street I've been going to since 2008 and tried to pay with a $20 bill. The kid at the register just stared at me and pointed to a little sign that said 'card only' like I was from another planet. Anyone else feel like the world shifted without sending you a memo?

Man that's rough lol. I had almost the exact same thing happen at a coffee shop last week, felt like I walked into the future and forgot my translator. It's wild how fast things changed, even that diner you mentioned used to have a whole jar of change on the counter for tips back in the day. Makes you wonder if we're gonna be the old folks waving twenties around while kids look at us like we're aliens.

Are we really acting like paying with cash is that weird now though? I still see plenty of people using bills at the grocery store and nobody bats an eye.

Exactly. What gets me is how fast it all flipped. I'm not that old but I remember when cash was just the standard way to pay for everyday stuff. Now people act like you're doing something odd if you hand over a twenty. I still use cash for most of my small purchases and I get the same funny looks. It's not like we're talking about paying with gold doubloons. Money is money. And honestly, I think there's something to be said for actually handing over bills. It makes you think twice about what you're spending. I don't think the young folks realize how much easier it is to blow through your budget when you're just tapping your phone.
