Rant: My coworker swore I should ask for a raise right after a big win, and he was dead right
Back in March I closed our biggest account in Austin, and Dave from accounting told me to walk into my boss's office that same Friday instead of waiting for review season. I did it, got 9% on the spot, and he said nobody asks the week after a win. Has anyone else tried timing a raise like that, or did waiting for the yearly review actually work better for you?
Watched my old roommate pull the same move at a car dealership, he waited until the lot was empty on the last day of the month and walked out with way more than he planned on. Timing really is half the battle, whether it is asking for a raise or haggling over a used Honda (Dave from accounting sounds like a smart guy to keep around). Reviews are fine but nothing beats striking while the boss is still smiling about your win.
