Hit 500 posts on this forum and realized I was wrong about asking 'stupid' questions.

Honestly the only dumb question is one you're too scared to ask. I've seen so many threads where someone finally speaks up and half the forum is like "oh thank god, I was wondering that too." It takes guts to be the first one to put your hand up, especially online where people can be jerks. That 500 post mark is when you realize everyone's just figuring it out as they go.

Yeah, I read something once that stuck with me. It said the smartest people ask the most basic questions because they care more about being right than looking right. Totally agree with what bens81 said about someone finally speaking up. Happens all the time. You sit there staring at your screen feeling dumb, then someone posts the exact thing you were thinking and it's like a weight lifts. Hitting a big post count just proves you've been in the trenches long enough to see that pattern over and over.

Read a blog post once that called it "the burden of assumed knowledge." Basically, we all walk into rooms, online or off, pretending we already know the rules so we don't look stupid. The first person to break that silence does everyone a favor. It's like they pop the bubble of tension.
