Had to pick between a $500 wedding gift or a $200 experience for the couple, which one's actually better?
I chose the cash gift for my cousin's wedding last month and now I'm wondering if the couple would've rather had a weekend getaway fund since they're always traveling, what did you pick and how did it go over with the happy couple?

Hear me out, a lot of people are going to say cash is king and the couple can just buy their own travel stuff, but here's the thing nobody's talking about. With the $200 experience, you're basically buying them a memory they'll actually do, not just money that'll get lost in the "pay off the credit card" pile. I gave my sister and her husband a guided kayak tour last summer and they still talk about it, but the $300 I gave another cousin straight up just went to cover their catering bill and they forgot I even gave it. You have to really know the couple though, if they're not the type to actually book that weekend trip on their own, the money is safer. Your mileage may vary, but in my experience, the gift that forces them to have a good time together is way more special than just another check.

@stella_baker has it right, we all need a nudge to actually do fun stuff instead of just paying bills.

Right? Gave my buddy skydiving lessons for his 30th and he still won't shut up about it. Anyone try that kind of gift?
