Serious question, how do you pick between two towns when you've lived in both?
I moved back to my hometown about 5 years ago after spending a decade in Portland. Both places have their good sides but man, I still second guess myself sometimes. Portland had all the food carts and nightlife I could want, but my rent was eating up half my paycheck. Back home I can actually save money and my family is close by, but the only late night spot is a gas station that closes at 10. Had a moment last week when I saw an old Portland buddy's post about a ramen place we used to hit up and I almost packed my bags right there. But then I remembered how hard it was to find parking and how loud my neighbors were and I felt a little better. Has anyone else had to make this call and actually felt settled with their choice?

Yeah the "seeing old posts" thing is a killer, I get that. What helped me was making a real list of what I actually did in the old town vs just what I thought I missed. Turns out I hit up that ramen place maybe twice a year and spent the rest of the time stuck in traffic or stressing about bills. Try tracking your weeks for a month in both places, not just the highlights. If you still feel that pull after seeing the boring parts, then maybe think about moving again.

Does keeping a log of your daily annoyances help balance out the nostalgia?
