Hot take: That $40 pipe wrench from Harbor Freight saved me $800 this week
I was replacing a shower valve in my 1950s house and the old nut was seized solid. I figured I'd grab a cheap wrench just in case it broke. Figured I'd be out $40 and have to call a plumber anyway. Put my whole weight on it for like 10 minutes and it finally cracked loose without even a scratch on the wrench. Now I'm wondering how many other cheap tools are secretly just fine for one job. Anybody else had a bargain tool punch way above its weight?
