Customer told me my $1,800 quote was 'just slapping down some planks,' and I've been thinking about it ever since
Had a guy in Eden Prairie last Tuesday look at my quote for 600 square feet of LVP and say it was highway robbery since the material only ran him $1,100. I tried to explain the floor was out of level by almost an inch in the hallway, which meant pouring self leveler and waiting a full day before a single plank went down. He just kept saying his buddy could do it in a weekend for $300. I don't think folks realize the material is the cheap part and the prep is where the real money and time go. How do you all explain prep work to customers without sounding like you're making excuses?
