That Phoenix networking group I was sure was a waste of time actually landed me 3 leads in 2 months

I figured the $30 monthly fee for the Scottsdale BizMix meetup was just a cash grab, but after actually going to 4 meetings and talking to real owners I ended up with a contract for $2,500 worth of web work, so I guess I was wrong about the whole thing. Has anyone else had a low cost group surprise them like this?

Honestly this hits me right in the gut because I almost bailed on a similar group after the first meeting. Felt like everyone was just pitching their own stuff and I was wasting an hour on a Tuesday morning. But the third time I went I sat next to a guy who runs a local coffee shop chain and he ended up needing a dozen new signs for a rebrand. Small groups like that work way better than the big chamber of commerce type events where nobody really talks. The key is showing up more than once and actually listening instead of just handing out cards.

A dozen signs from one conversation? That's a crazy good return for just showing up a third time.

That quiet guy in the corner who never says much is often the one with the most money to spend, I've noticed the same pattern in my own networking.
