Networking event in Scottsdale turned into a 10 minute MLM pitch
Went to a mixer at some warehouse bar off the 101 last Thursday. Paid $25 at the door, got a name tag, grabbed a drink. Then this guy in a rented suit corners me for 10 minutes straight about a business opportunity. Turns out it was a pyramid thing selling supplements. When I said I was just there to meet local contractors, he got annoyed and walked off. I counted at least 8 other people doing the same pitch to different groups. Wasted my whole evening. Has anyone else seen these events get hijacked by MLM folks, or am I just picking bad meetups?
Same thing happened to me at a thing in Tempe last month. Guy kept asking if I was "ready to change my life" and I'm like dude I just want to hand out my card to some drywall guys. Seems like every cheap mixer around here is crawling with these people now.
