Hey locals, I tried the roundtable mixer at the Scottsdale Chamber vs the structured BNI group, and one was way better for actual leads

Totally agree with you on this. The roundtable format lets you actually talk to people without the strict time limits and scripts you get in BNI. I have seen way more follow through from those casual mixers because people aren't just trying to hit their quota or pitch you right away. The structured groups can feel like you are just collecting business cards instead of building real connections. You end up with warmer leads when you have a real conversation and can figure out if you even want to work with someone. Which part of the roundtable felt more natural to you, the open discussion or the smaller breakout tables?

Oh gosh, for me it has to be the smaller breakout tables all day. @christopher_sullivan, I know you mentioned the open discussion, but I find those big groups just let people talk over each other or one person dominates. In my experience, the 4-5 person tables force everyone to actually participate and listen. You can't hide or just nod along when it's that intimate, you know? Plus you get way more honest conversations because the pressure is off to perform for a crowd. Those breakout tables are where the real follow through happens in my book.
