Overheard a climber say he tapes his pruners for better grip
I was grabbing some coffee at a shop in Denver last week and a couple of tree guys were at the next table. One of them mentioned he wraps a strip of hockey tape around his pruners right where his thumb sits. Said it stops his hand from slipping when he's up in a wet tree all morning. I tried it on my Felco 2s yesterday and honestly it works. The grip feels way more solid and my hand didn't cramp up after a full day of thinning. I have always just dealt with slippery handles but this is a simple fix. Anyone else do something like this to make their tools easier to use in wet conditions?

Wait, so you're telling me grown adults are out here taping up their pruners like they're prepping for a hockey game? Honestly, I love this because it means I'm not the only one who turns basic tools into a DIY project when things get sweaty or wet. Tbh, I can totally see how that tape trick would save your hands from cramping up, especially if you're up in a tree for hours. I'd probably end up using colorful duct tape just to make my pruners look like a craft project gone wrong, though. Ngl, I'm half tempted to try this on my kitchen scissors just to feel like a pro while I'm chopping veggies for dinner.

A buddy of mine wrapped his pruners in hockey tape last summer and swore it helped with the blisters. @xena_brown50, colorful duct tape on kitchen scissors sounds ridiculous but I bet it works way better than expected.
