The day I figured out I'd been charging refrigerators wrong for 3 years

I was working on a Kenmore fridge last month for a guy named Dave. He kept saying the compressor was running fine but nothing was getting cold. I spent 45 minutes checking everything before Dave asked if I had actually plugged the thermistor back in. I told him of course I did, but he pointed to a loose connector hanging off the control board. Turns out I had been assuming the thermistor was the same as the defrost sensor on those models. I had done about 20 repairs wrong over the years because I never double checked the wiring diagram. Has anyone else mixed up parts that look the same but work totally different?

Feel for you man, that many botched repairs in that short of a span would drive me up a wall. It sounds like you've been dealing with some real shoddy workmanship, and that's not something you should have to put up with. Three years is a long time to keep running into the same problems over and over. Hope you finally find someone who does the job right the first time.
