That high-end dryer belt I laughed at actually lasted
I always bought the cheap $8 dryer belts from the local parts house. 6 months later they'd snap or stretch out. Last winter a customer insisted I use the $28 OEM Samsung belt on their dryer. Figured it was a waste of money but I put it in. 8 months later I was back at their house for a different issue and that belt still looked brand new. Anyone else find certain parts are worth paying triple for? I'm talking specifically about Samsung DC97-14482A belts.

14,000 hours on a Samsung belt and it still looked new? I'm calling that luck more than a rule. I've seen OEM belts snap just as quick as cheap ones if the tensioner pulley is going bad or the drum glides are shot. A belt is just rubber with some fibers in it, not magic. Unless you're seeing actual smoking or shredding, I doubt the average person would notice the difference between a $8 belt and a $28 belt in a blind test. How many dryers have you actually worked on to see if this holds up across different brands?

Oh man that's wild because I never thought about the belt type affecting drum alignment over time. Cheap belts might be fine for a little while but they stretch unevenly and throw the whole thing out of whack. Have you noticed any less squeaking or wobbling since switching to the OEM one?
