Can we talk about hitting episode 100 on a show you started on a whim

Tbh I just hit episode 100 of One Piece last night and I'm still processing it. I started it back in January as a joke because my buddy said I'd never make it past episode 30. Now I'm 100 episodes deep and I've cried like 4 times, I never expected a show about pirates to hit me this hard. The Arlong Park arc was what really got me, I thought it was just gonna be silly fights but the backstory with Nami had me messed up for days. Has anyone else gotten way more attached to a long running series than they thought they would?

Oh man, tell me about it! I almost skipped Attack on Titan because I thought it was just gonna be giant monsters fighting people and I was so wrong. I started it one night when I was bored and nothing else was on, next thing I know I'm ten episodes deep at 3 AM and questioning my whole life. The way they slowly drip feed you the world building and character backstories, it sneaks up on you for real. By the time I got to the big reveals I was already way too attached to actually stop watching. Now I'm that annoying person who tells everyone they have to push past the first few episodes because it gets so much better.

Man it's funny how the stuff we almost skip becomes the stuff we end up loving the most.
