Just noticed a big shift in tool storage at a Delta hangar in Atlanta
I was visiting a Delta hangar in Atlanta last week for a tour, and I saw something that caught my eye. Almost everyone had moved to foam cutouts in their toolboxes, like the shadow board style. Maybe 10 years ago, most guys I knew just had piles of tools in drawers. It made me wonder if this is a new trend or if my shop is just behind the times. Has anyone else seen a big move toward foam tool organizers in their hangars?

Are they actually keeping tools organized, or just flexing for the tour?

Used to think it was just for show until I actually tried it and now I can't go back to chaos.

Oh man, the "just flexing for the tour" comment hit me right in the feels. I've been that guy with the messy drawer who frantically shoves things around before an inspection. But honestly, I think the foam cutout thing is actually practical once you get past the initial "look at me" vibe. I converted my main box last year and I still manage to lose my 10mm socket somewhere in the foam, which is honestly impressive since it has a specific spot. The real test is how it looks after a month of actual work, not just the day of the tour. My box already has coffee stains and a mystery grease smear on the foam, so it's definitely not just for show anymore.
