Can we talk about the old days of steam cleaning cylinders on the ramp?

I was out in the hangar last night trying to track down a persistent oil leak on a 737 and it hit me how much easier some of this stuff was before everything got so computerized. Anyone else wish we could go back to simpler troubleshooting sometimes?

Yeah, honestly I used to hate the old steam cleaners but now I miss em too.

Totally feel you on that. I mean, I was the same way, used to complain about how long they took to heat up and how heavy they felt. But now with the newer models that keep breaking or not steaming as strong, I find myself wishing I could just go back to the old clunky ones that actually did the job. There's something about that steady, reliable steam that just worked, you know? Like maybe they were a pain but at least they lasted and didn't crap out after a year.

Used to roll my eyes at the old timers who swore by them, but after fighting with a finicky electric unit for two hours last week, I finally get it now.
