My local AI meetup guy swore by prompt templates. He was wrong.

At a Denver AI meetup last month, this guy Mark said using the same template every time would save hours. I tried his system for 2 weeks. It gave me the same bland answers over and over. Has anyone else found that rigid prompts just kill creativity?

One time I accidentally asked my coffee maker for stock tips after using too many prompt templates, but @danielhenderson probably gets the real issue here.

Came across a post from a guy who tested this at a coding bootcamp where they compared rigid templates vs just talking to the AI naturally. The rigid templates gave like 40% more useless filler words and way less variation in tone. Honestly I think Mark probably means well but he's missing the point. The best prompts I've seen are just like 2-3 sentences that state the problem and what kind of answer you want, no strict format. Tbh the whole template thing feels like people trying to turn AI into a boring form you fill out instead of having a real back and forth.
