I finally hit $38,000 and it made me feel worse, not better
Everyone told me once I hit 6 figures in savings I'd feel secure, but I crossed $38k in my account last month and just stared at the number feeling nothing. I actually keep a printed bank statement in my glovebox so I can look at it and remind myself it's real, because my brain refuses to believe it. Has anyone else hit a money goal and felt weirdly flat instead of proud?
Saved up for two years to buy this old truck I'd been eyeing, finally got the keys and just sat in the driveway feeling like it was somebody else's. Took me a while to figure out the chase was the part keeping me going, and the finish line just felt like a Tuesday. Money goals hit different than we expect, the wanting does more for us than the having.
