Warning: my neighbor Marge on Rio Grande Blvd said paint the stucco in October, not July, and she was dead right
I laughed at her since fall felt too far off, so I rolled two coats on the south wall in July when it was 98 degrees outside. The paint flashed dry before my brush even touched the next row, and by September I had peeling patches the size of dinner plates. Marge watched the whole mess from her porch with a glass of iced tea and never said a word. Cost me $340 to fix what one month of timing would've saved, so who else has a neighbor with annoying timing wisdom?
Man, this brings back memories of my uncle Ray who swore you should never prune roses after the 4th of July. I thought he was just being old and fussy about his garden schedule, so I chopped mine back in late August when I finally got around to it. Wouldn't you know, the new growth got hit by an early freeze in October and the whole bush died to the ground. Took me two years to get it looking normal again, and Ray never once said a word about it, just kept tending his own roses like nothing happened. The worst part is you can never be mad at them because they were right and they let you find out the hard way. Marge drinking her tea on the porch while your stucco peeled is exactly that same energy.
