Swapped out my swamp cooler for a mini-split last summer and folks thought I was nuts

Everyone in ABQ swears by evaporative cooling for the dry heat, but I got tired of the humidity and maintenance every spring. Two summers in now, my electric bill actually dropped $35 a month and the house stays cooler without that damp smell - anyone else ditch their swamp cooler for something different?

Electric bills dropping with a mini-split? That's pretty rare actually. They usually cost more to run than a swamp cooler in dry climates. Might want to double check those numbers.

Guess you haven't seen the SEER ratings on newer mini-splits then.

Hang on, I gotta push back a little here. Swamp coolers might be a pain to maintain but they're way cheaper to run than any AC in dry heat. Maybe you got lucky with your electricity rates or something 'cause I've seen people's bills jump a good bit when they made that swap.
