Just realized my old house in the North Valley has way more insulation than I thought... found out from a free city energy audit.

Did you get any tips from the audit on how to use that extra insulation to save money? I had a similar thing happen in my first house, where the audit showed the attic was packed. My takeaway was to really crank down the thermostat at night in winter, since the house held the heat so well. It made a noticeable difference in my gas bill.

Oh that's a great point! How many degrees did you actually turn it down at night? I'm always worried about the furnace working too hard to reheat the place in the morning.

Hey @valw36, did you actually check your attic vents first cause my audit showed insulation is useless if airflow is blocked.
