I just wasted $150 on a cheap gutter cleaning tool that broke after one use

I saw an ad for a telescoping pole with a brush head that promised to clean gutters from the ground. Bought it online for about $150. The first time I tried it on my single-story house, the plastic joint where the brush connects snapped right off. Now I'm back to using my ladder and a scoop. Has anyone found a gutter cleaning method that actually works without being a total ripoff?

My last attempt at a ground based gutter tool was a $40 extendable wand with a hook. The plastic clamp gave out before I even got the first handful of wet leaves out. I've made peace with the ladder and gloves now, but I did have decent luck with a simple garden hose sprayer attachment for lighter debris. It was under twenty bucks at the hardware store and hasn't broken yet.

Sounds like a lot of fuss over some leaves.

My old metal rake finally snapped last fall trying to clear a thick mat of wet maple leaves. I switched to a plastic leaf scoop, the kind that looks like a giant dustpan. It was about fifteen dollars and it's held up for two seasons now because the plastic has some flex to it. It works best if you sort of slide it under the pile instead of trying to lift from the top.
