My $25 secondhand espresso machine turned into a 2 a.m. science project

Picked up a broken DeLonghi off Facebook Marketplace last month in Columbus. Pulled it apart on my kitchen table, watched a 45 minute tear down video, and found the boiler gasket was shot. Replaced it for $8 and now it pulls shots better than my old $400 one. The whole thing felt like winning a weird lottery. Anyone else rescue something from the curb that surprised you?
