My buddy Mark found $40 once in a jacket he bought at a thrift store. It was wadded up in the inside pocket, like someone forgot about it. He almost donated the jacket without checking the pockets, glad he didn't. Used that money to buy lunch for himself and his girlfriend that same day. Said it felt like winning a mini lottery or something.

Three weeks ago I found a twenty dollar bill stuck in a shopping cart return thing at the grocery store. Every time I find random cash now it feels like the universe trying to tell me something. Like there is some hidden economy out there where stuff just gets abandoned and we all get a turn at finding it. Maybe we are all just one lucky piece of paper away from feeling like we won something. It makes me wonder how much money is just sitting in coat pockets and car seats that nobody ever checks.

I've found something like $60 in random spots over the last year (parking lots, laundry machines, sidewalk cracks) and I started keeping a little note in my wallet of where I found each one. @hayden466 it honestly feels like a weird game of hide and seek the universe plays with you, especially when you find a bill in a place you'd never think to check like under a gas pump handle. The real trick is to always look down when you're walking through a parking lot since most people don't bother scanning the ground. I bet there's thousands of dollars just sitting under vending machines and inside rental car cup holders that nobody ever digs out.
