I finally did the weekly hot wing contest at my job
I used to skip it, calling it a waste of time. Seeing my quiet coworker win changed my view. Now I see it's more about fun and guts than just heat.

For me, embracing the silly competition was key.

Totally get that. Turning it into a silly game was the only way I got through my daily step count goal with a friend. We started giving ourselves ridiculous points for weird things, like extra steps if you walked somewhere totally pointless. It stopped feeling like a chore and just became fun. Letting it be stupid took all the pressure off.

Ha! It's wild how often that trick works. I've seen people do the same thing with boring work stuff, like turning a big, scary report into a game where you get a "point" for every page you finish. My friend made folding laundry a race against a timer. It feels like a secret weapon against anything that feels like a drag.
